Biographical Notes on Dr. David Blot

Dr. David Blot was born in White Plains in 1941 and lived in Pleasantville and Thornwood until leaving fro college. He cam to New York City after graduating from Catholic University in Washington, D.C.., and began teaching English as a Second Language) in a community center in the South Bronx. His interests in this field led to an M.A. in TESOL from Teachers College and a Ph.D. from Fordham University in Language, Learning and Literature. He has been a full time Associate Professor at Bronx Community College since 1989.

In 2008, Dr. Blot received a full-year sabbatical from the college to study Peace and Social Justice at Greenfield Community College in Western Massachusetts. He also trained with Janet Chisholm, a well-known trainer in non-violence, and is now a certified Creating a Culture of Peace facilitator. At the college, Peace and Nonviolence is the theme of his advanced English courses, and he is active on campus as advisor to the Peace and Social Justice Club. He also sponsors peace workshops at his home in Riverdale and leads workshops elsewhere when invited.
