Gary Stern has covered religion for The Journal News in the New York City suburbs for 11 years and has extensive experience in analytical journalism. He has written about most religious groups with a presence in New York and has covered many of the great religious figures of the day. Stern has won the top two awards for religion journalism - the James Supple Religion Writer of the Year Award (2001) and the Templeton Religion Reporter of the Year award (2005). For the past two years, he has written a daily blog, "Blogging Religiously," on the LoHud.com website. He lives in White Plains with his wife, Anne and their two sons.
